Degrees through distance/online learning to be on par with those obtained by traditional mode
Online degrees and Open & Distance Learning offered by higher educational institutions shall be regarded as similar to degrees offered through traditional modes. The decision was made on September 09, 2022, in accordance with UGC regulation 22.
Significant increase in online and distance learning education has been seen after Covid - 19 pandemic. UGC’s announcement will ensure enrollment in online and open and distance learning modes in future as well. However, certain degrees and courses will require field experience.
Many Institutes offer distance learning courses that are prohibited by the government to pursue under ODL and online mode. Engineering, Medicine, Dental, Pharmacy, Nursing, Architecture, Physiotherapy, Agriculture, Hotel management, Culinary managements and and other programs are not authorized to be provided through online mode.
